My Story

My Story

I was born in Scotland and immigrated to Canada when I was four. I have lived and worked on a farm all my life and been working on it at spring and harvest since I was eleven. When I was twelve dad taught me how to drive the combine and I've ran it since then every harvest. In spring I worked the land for dad and he seeded. our farm was 2000 acres. In the summer I sail with the Manitoba Sailing Team and have been racing with them since I was 12 or 13 in a Laser Radial.

fourth day

Fourth day august 28th

Second watch went well again slept really well last night first one since I got on the ship … Marie and I managed to get the ship sailing perfectly for quite awhile only was a degree of drift from our heading. Which was pretty cool we were just motoring but it was nice to get a proper feel for the helm. I’m really impressed with the foul weather gear we got really keeps the cold out and at 2 am its pre cool with the wind especially on lookout. Lookout is the worst watch job super boring and it’s hard to stay awake. I’m on galley tomorrow so I’m excited for the good nights sleep but not for being on galley for tomorrow you don’t get much of a break all day your pretty much working.
