My Story

My Story

I was born in Scotland and immigrated to Canada when I was four. I have lived and worked on a farm all my life and been working on it at spring and harvest since I was eleven. When I was twelve dad taught me how to drive the combine and I've ran it since then every harvest. In spring I worked the land for dad and he seeded. our farm was 2000 acres. In the summer I sail with the Manitoba Sailing Team and have been racing with them since I was 12 or 13 in a Laser Radial.

day eight

Day eight august 31st

As I write this I notice the days are starting to blur together and Im really glad I’m writing this blog so I can remember every little buit about this adventure. Both crews are blending together really well the maritime crew are very easy to get along with as long as you do what is asked of you and the student crew are getting along super well. It seems that everyone who has the interest to apply for this program are cut all from the same string if you know what I mean we all mesh together really well and understand each other. There has been such a great community created on the ship a truly great collection of people. We had our first port program today we took a bus to the ferry and took the ferry to Pelley Island. Jen and Meagan organized a bike ride tour for us to do and then we were allowed to keep the bikes for the rest of the day. We biked 30 km on the tour then probably another ten on our own. We went to get ice cream then all went swimming on a public beach. At 4 we all met at a winery for a barbeque with caz the ships cook made for us. corn on the cob chicken and brownies pre awesome meal.
